The Benefits of Product Knowledge
If you are struggling to make a sale, a simple
solution maybe to learn about the product you
are trying to sell. It is a lot easier to sell a product when
you know how it will benefit the customer. Knowing your product will give consumers
trust in your business. You can gain their trust by answering
their questions thoroughly and correctly and
showing an interest in the product. It is important to know how the product
is made, its value and how it should be used. It is also important to know what
products work well with it, this may help you
gain another sale.
If you don’t know the answer to a customer’s
question, spend time to seek out the right
answer or retrieve another employee well
qualified to answer the question. Make it
company policy to have all employees research
the information they do not know or have product
knowledge meetings and literature once a month
to keep everyone up to date. You do not want your employee providing
wrong information to a prospective customer.
Presentation is the best way to draw people into
a product. When people are able to see firsthand how
something works they can decide for themselves
whether that product would be good for them. For instance, if you are selling a hand
cream, offer a free hand massage to your clients
or put out a tester for them to try themselves. This will connect you to your customers
as well. Food demonstrations are always a
great way to draw customers in to your product.
Supermarkets are more likely to make sales on a
product that was demonstrated that day.
Confidence, knowledge and presentation are key
to a great sale. If you keep those three elements in mind
while trying to make a sale you will benefit
both your company and your consumer.
