iPhone, The New Computer?

Since the Apple iPhone released in June 2007, it has taken the world by storm with its abundance of applications from mail, maps, video games and mp3s to video and picture capabilities, and let's not forget that it's actually a phone.  Researchers are wondering whether this new mobile device will be replacing the computer soon.

A new upgrade releasing this June, iPhone 3G S has video recording, voice control and 32 GB of storage, making this the fastest iPhone yet. These new features allow you to cut, copy and paste, check your stocks, navigate, write messages, you name it, it has it.

Before you panic that you may have to trade in your PC for a pocket-sized mobile device, it is not likely, or at least not anytime soon.  Not until it targets the other part of the population that doesn't have AT&T and its other exclusive iPhone partners, specifically the population that wants nothing to do with AT&T.

The price of the upgrade could be as high as $599 with an additional $70 - $100 for the plan depending on your service provider.  Current...

HELPFUL BUSINESS TIPS

A Flash Site vs. Flash Components

If you are considering a new website design for your business and are debating between a full flash site or a standard site with flash components, here are a few facts you should know to help you decide.

Full flash sites, while they may look professional and modern, they have a few disadvantages that make it second choice to most web designers who focus on marketing.  For starters, it takes a long time to load before it even gets to the intro.  It's hard to keep your viewer interested long enough to get to the actual website, which was the viewers main intention in the first place.  Most viewers want a quick response in return for information they are searching for.

The biggest disadvantage, which is important from a marketing standpoint, is that it's bad for search engines.  A flash site is created with images and text which is put together with animation to create a movie. Search engines cannot pick up the text embedded in a movie, therefore will not rank well.  A standard site is made up of images and text.  Search engines can properly read the text from a standard website making it easier to give you a higher ranking when someone is searching for information that might be included in the content of your site.

FUN BUSINESS FACTS:

  • In most advertisements, the time displayed on a watch or clock is usually 10:10.
  • 90% of all restaurants fail during their first year of operation.

Go Green in Your Office:

Paints, carpets and wall surfaces in our office space are made up of toxic chemicals that we are exposed to everyday.  If you are renovating your office or home office, look into natural products such as bamboo, cork and Marmoleum flooring.  Choose a paint that is environmentally friendly; without chemicals there also won't be that terrible odor.

The Gates and EO

New site launched in May 2009

Danny Kane, entertainment entrepreneur, Rod Surut, restaurant and lounge entrepreneur and nightlife veteran Redd Stylez have recently joined forces in opening The Gates, a new venue located in Chelsea, NYC.  Previously known as the Biltmore Hotel, this decadent space with lavish marble walls, an open fireplace and crystal chandeliers reflects the timeless and classic nature of genuine luxury.  The Gates will feature an exclusive line up of the world's best DJs, events, premieres and launches, fusing each party with its own iconic style.

What EO did for The Gates:  Website Design.  Given the history and elegance of the space, it was important that The Gates' website reflect that same caliber of style.  The goal in creating the design of the website was to incorporate a rich color scheme, a graphic of the gates and high quality images of the venue to provide site visitors a clear vision of what they can expect when visiting The Gates.  Site visitors can use the website as a point of reference for menus, upcoming events, recent press articles and contact information.  Click here to view The Gates website.

Ambassador Program:  In order to create the atmosphere Danny Kane and his partners were looking for, an Ambassador Program was developed.  This program allows the venue owners to fill the place with great clientele based in an organic way.  Ambassador status is offered to only a select group of influential individuals who have been chosen by The Gates because of their shared vision and potential to contribute distinctive styles and personalities to this unique destination.  EO developed the capability for those chosen as ambassadors to sign into the system, sign up members on a permanent mailing list, RSVP non-members and export the total list to keep track of how many members attend the venue on a specific date.

The general benefits of Ambassadorship are having access to The Gates' exclusive VIP room, priority reservation service, receiving invitations to special events, inclusion in the Founding Ambassador Rewards Program, and a VIP/Founding Ambassador Card pre-loaded with an introductory balance as a gift that can be used towards future purchases at The Gates.

Business Card Design:  In addition to our web design services, EO also designed business cards for the venue.  After a discussion with the client in regards to their vision, business cards were created to reflect a rich, elegant color scheme while incorporating the gates in which the venue is named after and known for.

We also added the ability for clients to apply for jobs under the job descriptions and an administration tool for the staff to easily manage the jobs that are constantly changing.  Because the site and the business is geared for clients who are looking for employment, we wanted to make sure the site was user friendly and personal.  Since searching for a job can be very stressful, we wanted to make sure the viewers felt at ease when navigating and applying for jobs.

Overall, the site has a fresh, high end professional look that is easily accessible for clients and for the staff.
