HELPFUL BUSINESS TIPS

Changes in Social Media that Can Help Promote Your Business

Social Media has been the main source for personal networking for the past few years.  Facebook, Myspace and Twitter are a few of the popular networking websites that have taken on this new media craze.  In recent months, we have seen a rise in small and large businesses using these applications to promote and network their companies.  It is a great way to connect with your clients/customers on a more intimate level, while promoting and exposing your business.  Here are a few ways Social Media can help your business:

  • Exposure:  The best way to gain exposure is to put your name out there on something that is rich in traffic.  For instance, having your restaurant profile on Facebook.  We have many clients who have recently signed up for a Facebook account to promote their restaurants, clubs and bars.  It is a great place to add photos, update promotions, menus and make friends who will potentially become your customers.

  • Build Relationships:  Adding your Facebook/Myspace link to your website is a helpful way to increase your traffic, and it allows your customers to feel like they developed a lasting relationship with your business.  For example, visit:  http://www.maxwellsny.com.  Another great way to build lasting relationships is by blogging.  People want to know what is going on with your business, what new events you may have attended or any events that they can attend.  We have clients who run a charity and use a daily blog to update visitors on news and events that they have been involved in.  They also have a page on their site that allows others to upload their own photos of themselves helping out the charity.  It really gets people involved.  Blogs help people feel like they can connect with you on a more personal level.  If you are looking for a blogging site, Twitter is a great site that generates a lot of traffic.

  • Advertise:  As stated above, the best way to get your name out there is to put it on something that is rich in traffic, so why not advertise on these social networking sites?  There are sections blocked off of these websites that are solely for advertisements.  If you are computer savvy, or work for a web firm, another great way to gain exposure and generate revenue is to develop an application on Facebook.  If you run a charity this is a great way to get people to donate.  Get people involved.  If you aren't familiar with these applications, join a networking site and familiarize yourself with it, it's free to join.
