Nassau Museum and EO

New site launched June 2010

Web Design - The Nassau Museum EOThe Site Before EO

The Nassau County Museum of Art is the nation’s largest, most important suburban art museum with 145-acres of property in the heart of Long Island. The museum has a beautiful garden and handmade sculptures surrounding the estate.

NCMA is known for its unique exhibits, hands on art courses and its family orientated events. Its doors are open for children, with their own private museum, allowing birthday parties, tea parties and imaginative exhibits.

The site before EO did not have the functionality of a shopping cart.  To purchase a ticket to an event or art class it was set up using an email system with buttons.  The site had an outdated look with mutliple fonts and styles incorporated throughout each page of the site.  We wanted to give it a more consistant look and liven up the site but still keep it clean and modern.  NCMA came to us in hopes that we could capture the creative essence of this family friendly museum while organizing content so that it is manageable and user friendly.

The Site After EO

Web Design - The Nassau County Museum of Art EO

NCMA offers many events, art classes and exhibits to the general public. Our main goal was to supply a shopping cart that organized and stored member’s information, while making it easy for users to purchase tickets online. Since the new shopping cart was launched, traffic to the site and online sales have skyrocketed. We also organized a more user friendly way to search the art class schedules. We created a feature that allows users to search for an art class title, instructor or class time or day so users can find exactly what they are looking for in one easy step.

We wanted to take the previous site with its muted color palette and outdated design and create a space that reflects the artistic nature of the museum while incorporating images of the museums artistry and giving it a fresh modern look. We used a bright color palette and image galleries of the museums garden and sculptures and buildings. The most visited pages on the site were placed on the top menu bar so that they are easily accessible and color bars were used to differentiate between them. Overall, the website has a modern, clean look that reflects the essence of an art museum while giving visitors a user-friendly way to sign up for classes or events and find the information they need.
