New site launched on January 2009
Business Purpose: Kidz Therapy Services, LLC was founded to promote and enhance the development of infants and young children with special needs between the ages of birth to five. They are one of the largest providers of early intervention, preschool and school age services (provided through Gayle E. Kligman Therapeutic Resources) in Nassau and Suffolk counties.
The
Site Before EOBefore Kidz Therapy hired EO to redesign their site, their old site was very simple and plain. Like many companies and organization when they get their first web site, the site was done just to be there and available on the web.
Some problems with the site was the navigation, it wasn't intuitive and in different location (top and bottom). The color scheme didn't really matched what Kidz Therapy was all about. The use of the dark blue and maroon colors may work well for corporate sites, but not for a site that wants to captivate a parent's attention.
Aside from the two colorful images on the top, the site was very flat and didn't really impress, captive or attract.
Once
Kidz Therapy hired EO, we began by meeting with them and
understanding their business, their vision for their new site, as
well as who their target market was.
Based on this we developed a new design that focused on navigation, colors and fonts. These three elements would be designed so that the site would impress, attract and captivate their target market: parents.
The new design used soft pastel colors with an emphasis on yellow. Why yellow? Because studies have shown that yellow is the first color that kids go for and since parents were kids once too, right away it would say "kids" in their minds. This is the exact same reason why the Mc Donald's logo has yellow in it (the "golden" arches).
We also added more "fun", larger images to home page to say in pictures what they do. The idea was that even if a person didn't read a single word on the site, they would still have an idea of what the site is about.
Because the site and the business is geared for parents looking for a place to help in the development of their children, we used a lot of colors thru out the site, while ensuring it still had a professional feel to it. We wanted the site to be fun, but instill a sense of security and foundation, hence the use of the color blue for the navigation bar. Remember how we previously wrote that the dark blue used in the old site was good for corporations? The reason is because psychologically blue is associated with stability, foundation and integrity. This is why corporations love to use the color blue (corporate "blue").
When it was all set and done the site looked very different than from what it used to be. It was easy to navigated, it was more attractive, more personal, more fun and definitely very professional.
